About
Lawrence V. White

Lawrence V. White is a bassist, music director, arranger, and producer whose musical versatility and deep appreciation for a wide range of genres have shaped a dynamic career in performance, recording, and production. Rooted in gospel but equally influenced by R&B, soul, funk, jazz, and rock, his approach to music reflects both technical range and a genuine passion for artistic expression in all forms.
Lawrence’s musical journey began at the age of five, playing drums in the small church where his grandfather served as pastor. Early exposure to music through his family—especially his father and aunt—helped cultivate his love for diverse musical styles and traditions. Recognizing his natural ability, his parents invested in piano lessons and encouraged him to study saxophone throughout his school years. Eager to explore every musical avenue available, he also experimented with guitar, flute, trumpet, and organ before ultimately discovering his true voice on bass guitar during his freshman year of high school. That connection solidified a lifelong passion for performing, recording, and creating music.
Following high school and college, Lawrence became an active presence in Connecticut’s music scene, performing with college gospel choirs at institutions including Wesleyan University, Central Connecticut State University, Eastern Connecticut State University, and University of Hartford, while also working with community choirs, top 40 bands, and independent artists across multiple genres.
Over the years, those experiences led to collaborations and performances with artists including John Violinist, DMC, Sugar Blue, Tony Dofat, Emmany, Ru Williams, Klokwize, and many others. To date, Lawrence has contributed to more than 100 recordings spanning gospel, soul, R&B, funk, rock, and contemporary music, with releases available on digital platforms worldwide.
As a solo artist and producer, Lawrence released his debut original EP, Sunday At About 130BPM, in 2021, along with the cover project Run For Cover Episode 1. His catalog also includes singles such as Say Something, Snowed In with You, V.I.J.D., Cry For Justice, and Life’s Deposition. He is currently recording a original project while continuing to tour, perform, produce, and collaborate with artists across a broad musical spectrum.
Despite his diverse musical career, Lawrence remains grounded in the faith community where his journey began, continuing to play bass every Sunday morning.
